Incorporating Inclusive AI in Edulution’s EdTech Programme

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionise education across Africa. As the continent grapples with a myriad of educational challenges, from limited access to quality resources to a shortage of qualified teachers, AI-driven educational technology can reshape the educational landscape and lessen these burdens.

Edulution intends to equip our Learners for the rapidly changing job market by incorporating AI into our innovative Numeracy Programme, modernising our method for greater impact, while protecting our humans-first values. Transformations in EdTech must always serve the many, not the few; cutting-edge technologies are often “absent from public schools, which educate 80% of school children across Africa.” Bridging the educational divide by providing personalised learning experiences that match the pace of every Learner in under-resourced areas ensures that these inequalities end, and are not perpetuated.

Enhancing teacher support

Both South Africa and Zambia are currently in a teacher crisis, with dwindling numbers of new teachers, many retiring, and large class sizes. AI-driven platforms can handle administrative tasks, grade assignments, and even provide insights into student performance. This allows teachers to focus more on interactive and engaging teaching. Moreover, Edulution will offer teachers AI professional development training, allowing educators to stay updated with modern teaching methods and take ownership of the Programme.

Expanding access to personalised content

AI will further personalise the Edulution Programme for the needs of each Learner, identifying areas Learners are struggling in. Large class sizes can mean that young people can slip through the gaps without meaningful interventions. Edulution’s data-driven solution will intervene before crisis point, alerting Coaches and teachers to serious knowledge gaps; thus, decreasing the rate of children falling behind the curriculum and dropping out.

Data-driven insights for better decision-making

From inception, Edulution was determined to build best-in-class monitoring and evaluation systems and discipline to guide our actions and inform innovation. Today, our operations are fully informed by automated data collection and analysis. By capturing actions and results from Learner devices, the comprehensive dataset grows by the minute. Incorporating AI into this dataset will automatically highlight trends and areas of improvement. Informing our stakeholders and policymakers is key to our mission. AI will aid this, leading to greater influence in education policy and national strategy

Inclusive of underserved, rural demographics

Edulution has the unique capacity to operate our technology completely offline and off-grid, allowing us to reach the most marginalised, rural communities that other Ed-Tech organisations cannot. As we begin to incorporate AI into our platform, we will ensure that rural operations can continue to transform these Learner’s lives. Offline AI LLMs can work totally offline, and you do not need a supercomputer to do it. This is vital to address the digital divide in global education and reduce inequality.

An exciting future

The integration of AI in EdTech holds transformative potential for Africa’s educational landscape. By addressing key challenges such as access, quality, language barriers, and inclusivity, AI-driven solutions can pave the way for a more equitable and effective education system. Edulution will continue to embrace technological advancements, unlocking new opportunities for thousands of Learners across our operations.
